DENTAL SERVICES

Routine Dental Check-up and Dental Hygiene

Oral health is part of general health. It is recommended to have an oral health check-up in six month intervals. It should be noted that the six month interval is dependent on the oral health status of the individual patient, hence your dentist or hygienist may recommend shorter or longer periods. The general observation is that we seek oral health intervention because there is something already going wrong within our mouths. Many consult a dentist because of a toothache or bleeding gums. These two common oral health diseases take time before they are fully established, hence a routine check-up would curb such from occurring.
 1. It is important to note that direct infection to the bones is through trauma(fractured bones) and decayed teeth. 2. Dentistry is not expensive, neglect is: The more decayed the tooth, the more expensive it becomes to restore or replace it. Routine dental check-up may involve the taking of radiographs (x-rays) that enable a dental professional to see the condition of the teeth and supporting structures.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening (also called teeth bleaching) refers to a process that lightens the colour of the teeth. The process of teeth whitening is often accompanied by prior physical removal of the stains in a normal tooth cleaning termed scaling. Whitening involves the lightening of the teeth by means of a chemical reaction that removes stains from the teeth.

Dental Fillings

A dental filling/ restoration broadly refers to a treatment aimed at restoring the function, integrity, and morphology/form of a missing tooth structure resulting from caries or trauma. Dental fillings are either direct or indirect and further classified by location and size. This service refers to direct fillings that include preventive restorations (fissure sealants), composite, and "amalgam" fillings.

Orthodontics (Braces)

Braces are aimed at aligning and straightening malpositioned teeth with regard to the patient's bite and jaw relation. Crooked teeth as it is sometimes called, do not only impact appearance but rather influence speech and oral hygiene practices. Causes of crooked teeth may be hereditary, caused by habits (thumb sucking, pacifier usage, mouth breathing, tongue thrusting), or as a result of early loss of deciduous (milk/baby) teeth.
The treatment may range from simple, intermediate to complex (involving jaw surgery). Some patients may seek orthodontic treatment for cosmetic reasons, for example being rotating and de-rotating some teeth and closing gaps between teeth. In some selected cases, orthodontic treatment may be required as a multidisciplinary approach to prosthodontics and creating space for congenitally missing teeth.

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a procedure carried out when the pulp (nerve) of a tooth is infected or exposed (as a result of decay or injury), aimed at saving the tooth from being extracted. The tooth may have excruciating pain, a dull ache, or no pain at all. Some teeth with a history of injury discolour over time to be noticed by the patient, while others are picked up during routine dental check-ups. The contents of the pulp system and all necrotic tissue and bacterial toxins are eliminated followed by root filling and the build-up of the tooth crown.
Not every toothache is treated by extraction.

 CROWNS and CAD /CAM

A Crown is a type of dental restoration that completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. Crowns are used to cover a tooth. Information and communication technologies have found their application in the healthcare sector, including the frameworks of modern dentistry. CAD / CAM is an acronym of English words Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) / Computer-Aided-Manufacture (CAM), respectively dental computer-aided design and computer aided manufacture of inlays, onlays, crowns and bridges. CAD / CAM technology essentially allows you to create a two-dimensional and three-dimensional models and their materialization by numerical controlled machines. In order to operate more efficiently, increase user/patient satisfaction. Manufacturing of these prosthesis are done chair side and may be delivered the same day. After the removal of pathologically altered tooth structure, it is necessary to achieve restoration that will be most similar to the anatomy of a natural tooth. Applying CAD / CAM technology on applicable ceramic blocks it can be obtained very quick, but also very accurate restoration, in the forms of inlays, onlays, bridges and crowns.

Implants

Dental implants are permanent teeth prostheses that are inserted directly into the jaw bone. They rely on the jaw bone to retain the prosthesis that may be a crown or a bridge. Titanium screws are inserted in the jaw bone on which a crown or a bridge prosthesis is manufactured and inserted to replace a missing tooth/teeth. Not all patients are suitable to receive such treatment and therefore a proper patient assessment and case selection are required. For this procedure, the patient makes a booking for an assessment and later rescheduled for implant insertion.

Laser Assisted Dentistry

Laser-assisted dentistry includes the use of light energy in treating medical and dental conditions. We currently use an Epic Diode laser for soft tissue surgery and pain therapy ( Cold sores, TMJ problems, Pain therapy etc)

Removable Dentures

Removable dentures (False teeth) are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth and are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable partial or complete dentures. The base of the dentures is made of acrylic, flexible acrylic, or metal (chrome cobalt)
